HEANOR JUNIORS U13 2005/2006
DATE - SUNDAY 15TH JANUARY 2006  TIME - 10:30
VENUE - WILSTHORPE, LONG EATON

RIVERSIDE U13 BOYS V HEANOR U13 BOYS
RESULT - RIVERSIDE 2 - 6 HEANOR

Heanor U13's played the best passing football of their somewhat indifferent season on a surprisingly firm pitch after the recent spate of bad weather. It was not long before the first goal of the game, went deservedly to Heanor, some excellent link up play between Hood and Watson provided a nicely worked one two which gave Watson the space to place the ball into the back of the net. Heanor were stunned when Riverside replied with a long range effort, with the wind helping it to dip beneath the bar and out of reach of the out stretched Heanor keeper.Riverside continued to push on with their new found confidence, Barlow working hard to keep a very physical Riverside no 3 at bay. With the opposition now trying the long balls over the top, the back four of Carter, Prince, Soar and Barlow soaked up the pressure with some excellent ball winning challenges. 20 minutes into the game a swift passage of play saw Watson again put the ball into the Riverside net only to be ruled off side. SCORE 1 - 1

SECOND HALF
Early into the second half Hood was eventually rewarded for his hard work, with a powerful individual run into the Riverside penalty area, he rounded the keeper and coolly put the ball into an empty net. The Heanor front two continued running at the Riverside defence a surging run up the left by Hood who crossed a low ball across the face of the goal for Watson to side foot in for a 3 - 1 lead. With Riverside now on the back foot, Heanor took full advantage, Lee's powerful strike from outside of the area left the keeper stranded, crashing into the back of the net Heanor now raced to 4 - 1.  A hopeful long ball by the Riverside midfield gave their attackers some hope of reducing the gap, with the ball loose in the Heanor penalty area they were denied an attempt on goal by a brave save from Heanors half time replacement keeper Dominic Gras.  Moments later, Heanor were eventually caught out by a sweeping Riverside move, the ball played down the right hand side , a shot across the keeper into the bottom right hand corner saw Riverside claim their second goal. Heanor took this as a wake up call, the front two keeping the ball on the ground with fast feet out foxed the Riverside defence a ball across the face of the goal gave Hood his second of the game. Heanor now had a 5-2 lead. The dying moments of the game saw Hood take a free kick 25 yards out and slightly left of the goal, it was whipped into the area with pace only for second half substitute Wilson to rise above the tired Riverside defence and head the ball into the net for his first goal of the season and a well deserved 6 - 2 victory. A good all round performance from Heanor U13'S deserving all three points.

SCORERS - HOOD 2, WATSON 2, WILSON 1 LEES 1.
